During Art Farm this week, Gabby brought insects. The Clouds learned that all insects have six legs and three body parts (head, thorax, and abdomen). The first insect the Clouds learned about was Woody the two-year-old walking stick. We learned that if walking sticks lose their legs, they would easily grow back. The next insects they learned about were crickets. Crickets are nocturnal! Next, the students met Grape and Licorice the blue death-feigning beetles. They have smooth bodies, are herbivores, and live in the sand. Lastly, the students learned about glow spot insects. These insects are from the South American rain forests and the males have orange spots.
